Last week, Kaiser Permanente's Moreno Valley hospital was one of 14 total Southern California hospitals honored by The Joint Commission – the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. "Top Performer" status is awarded for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care in 10 conditions, including heart attack, surgical care and inpatient psychiatric services. "Kaiser Permanente has had a sustained focus on delivering the highest quality mental health care to our members, and this recognition underscores our continuous efforts to provide the best care possible," said Don Mordecai, MD, director of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Services, and chair, Chiefs of Psychiatry for Kaiser Permanente's Northern California Region. "Ensuring that care is easily available when it's needed is incredibly important, and at Kaiser Permanente, we have taken steps to ensure our members have access to the best mental health care professionals when they need them." "Our integrated system, supported by technology, makes it easier for all of our health care providers and staff to deliver high-quality, coordinated care," said Patrick Courneya, MD, executive vice president and chief medical officer for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. "We are proud that our physicians, nurses, clinicians and care teams are dedicated to helping each of our members live well and thrive."
