The internet can reveal a lot about concert and recording artists like the Grammy-nominated Collingsworth Family.

Not surprisingly, most appearances of the Tennessee-based gospel music ensemble in their current “That Day Is Coming” tour are in America’s south and east – Atlanta, New York City, Houston, Cincinnati, and scores of other cities.  One fan posts a complaint that she found the family’s Branson, Missouri, concerts sold out after she paid for travel and lodging in the city.

And then, of course, there’s Calimesa, California.

Calimesa?  It’s true. The family vocal and instrumental group has scheduled one California concert, here on May 2, as they travel west to the three-day Great Western Gospel Music Fan Festival in Visalia.

Their local appearance, sponsored by Calimesa Community Concerts as part of its 32nd annual music series, will be at 7 p.m. that day in the Calimesa Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Reserved-seat tickets for the event are on sale now for $10, $15, and $20 from online ticket broker iTickets.com, either at the agency’s Web site or by telephone, announces concert series founder-coordinator Dr. Bob Soderblom.  The iTickets telephone order number is (800) 965-9324, he adds, and major credit cards are accepted.

Parents Phil and Kim Collingsworth began their rise in the contemporary gospel music world as a duo in the mid-1980s before evolving into a family performing group.  Appearing and recording with their parents are all four Collingsworth children, now young adults and accomplished musicians in their own right.  Daughters Brooklyn and Courtney (violins and vocals), Olivia (vocals), and son Philip (vocals) are integral to the family ensemble on its current concert tour.  Father Phil is featured in vocals and on trumpet, and mother Kim (vocals) is an award-winning pianist and arranger who accompanies both vocal and instrumental pieces.

The musical Collingsworths have released a string of successful praise and worship albums and video recordings in recent years, including two in the Billboard Christian Albums Top Ten chart and 20 in the Top Forty listing.

Gospel Music Association “Dove” awards recognized the family’s recordings in 2015 and 2016, as did a Grammy Award nomination in 2017.A recorded telephone line with free information about the Calimesa concert is at (909) 795-4960. The church address for the May 2 event is 391 Myrtlewood Drive, Calimesa.
