Commencement exercises at Cal State San Bernardino will take on a new scheduling format in 2014, with graduation set for June 12-14. No ceremonies will be held on Fathers’ Day, Sunday, June 15. The university will continue to hold six separate graduation events during the commencement weekend, beginning with ceremonies for students from CSUSB’s Palm Desert Campus, on Thursday, June 12. The ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage. Commencement for graduate students who will earn master’s and doctoral degrees from CSUSB’s five academic colleges will be held on campus at Coussoulis Arena on Friday, June 13, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Cal State San Bernardino’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences will hold its graduation at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Coussoulis Arena, followed by ceremonies for the colleges of Arts and Letters and Education at 11:45 a.m., Business and Public Administration at 3:45 p.m. and Natural Sciences at 7:45 p.m. “This is the first time in many years that we won’t hold commencement on the Sunday of Fathers’ Day weekend, and the first time that we will present four separate graduation events in one day,” said Carol Dixon, executive director of special events and guest services at CSUSB. All of the ceremonies at Cal State San Bernardino’s Coussoulis Arena will be webcast live.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
