Elementary School Prepares to Open in August

H. Frank Dominguez Elementary School opens its door in August. With over 10 acres of property, H. Frank Dominguez will hold 19 classrooms for grades K-6. The school is projected to enroll 600 students in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. The campus will integrate Apple software via iPads and mounted projectors will be available in all classrooms. Amenities will also include a lunch shelter, playground equipment, a computer lab, library and baseball fields. Mr. Alejandro Hernandez has been chosen as the Principal of H. Frank Dominguez Elementary School. Hernandez comes from a family of educators. As an immigrant from El Salvador, he understands the struggles of the students he serves. Like many parents, Hernandez immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. And, like him, students can achieve their goals if they remained focused on their education and set goals for themselves. Alejandro Hernandez began his career working in an inner-city Los Angeles school. Hernandez then furthered his career at Lincoln Elementary, where he worked with students in the Dual Immersion and Alternative Bilingual Education programs. His most recent accomplishments include serving the San Bernardino City Unified School District as Principal of Muscoy Elementary School. As an administrator, Muscoy Elementary experienced impressive test-score gains that raised the school’s Academic Performance Index to 774, which is only 26 points shy of the state-mandated 800. According to Hernandez, “Getting to this point has been challenging because the majority of the school’s students are still learning the English language and many of them live in poverty.” Even then, Principal Hernandez remains humble and gives all credit to his teachers.
