Riverside Art Museum Hosts Monthly Art Walk

Fans of art came in full supply at the Riverside Art Museum's recent art walk. This monthly gathering invites the community to come out and enjoy free art. The Riverside Art Museum (RAM) usually hosts three different exhibits throughout the year (The Riverside Legacy, Women Who Ride and Rebranding The Russian Avant-Garde). This particular event generally brings out 500-800 people throughout the community. Executive Director for the past two years, Drew Oberjuerge, shares that her love for the arts is one of the reasons her involvement with the RAM began in the early 2000s and remains strong. She shares that she wants the art walk to be an event that is accessible to the community. Kathryn Poindexter, who is currently an art major at the University of California, Irvine, has held the title of Museum Collection/Exhibit Liaison for the past three years and calls the art walk event the “big party” of the arts. Raven Johnson, who was a drink server at the event, thinks this event is cool and brings the people together within the Riverside community. Not only was there art and paintings, but there was an improv dance performance choreographed by Sue Roginski and coordinated by Rosa Rodriguez-Frazier. The performers at this event attend University of California, Riverside and were all dance majors. Rodriguez herself received her bachelor’s degree and is continuing her master’s in MFA and Experimental Dancing. Rodriguez commented that improv dancing is “abstract and is based on passion and feeling.”
