MORENO VALLEY>> D. LaDonna Jempson, Moreno Valley City Councilmember, has successfully qualified to run for the District 1 Council seat in Moreno Valley. She was selected by 76.1 percent of the voters in 2014 to take over the recalled seat of Victoria Baca for District 5. Based on the voters’ support to elect a Mayor in 2016, the result was a reduction in districts. The expansion of District 5 has now become District 1 and includes approximately 47,257 residents. Jempson said she feels she is the people’s choice for a variety of reasons including being a resident of Moreno Valley in the same District for 31 years. Jempson, who is bilingual in both English and Spanish, works as a Human Resource Manager for 24 years and said her experience provides the professionalism needed to work through some of the issues at hand. She has held a variety of positions on the boards of several local non-profits, which she said demonstrates her desire to serve the public. While currently on the city council, she said her experience will eliminate the training curve and allow her to get the job done in the most effective way possible. Jempson said she is proud of the accomplishments she has made as a councilmember in such a short period of time. “Sometimes the resident just wants someone to care enough to return their call or reply to their email to address their issue, even when the issue cannot be fixed,” Jempson said. Being responsive was her No. 1 priority. In reviewing her platform from 2014, Jempson committed to regain community’s trust, restore healthy relationships with JPA and the school districts, supported job opportunities, promoted community entertainment, improve public safety and clean up our streets. “I am happy to report that in each area listed, there have been improvements which I was a part of but there is much more to be done” Jempson said. “I have faith that the residents of District 1 in Moreno Valley will grant me the opportunity to serve a full, 4-year term by selecting D. LaDonna Jempson on the Nov. 8 ballot,” Jempson said. For more information, call (951) 243-8713, email jempson4citycouncil@hotmail.com or go to www.jempson4CityCouncil.com.
