On Saturday, July 26, Kicks Tae Kwon Do Advanced Training Center at 1230 East Washington Street Suite 10 in Colton offered a free Summer Safety Seminar to the public. Master Jeff said that the focus of the event was to teach kids not to be bullied while helping to develop self-confidence and self-esteem. 21 children were in attendance for this session, and were taught about techniques to deal with bullying. "I tell the kids, 'Words only have power if you give them power'," said Jeff. "I teach them that being physical with anyone else is the last resort. They're encouraged to talk to an adult about the situation, and when confronted or in it all alone, to walk away." Summer safety was also discussed. Jeff gave the students tips on swimming safety and what to do when the temperatures outside soar. "I remind them about things like drinking a lot of water when it's hot outside, and other basic summer safety ideas," he said. The next Free Safety Seminar will be held on Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. Students are welcome to walk in to the free seminar, or can call ahead of time to register at (909)825-8502.
