The Entrepreneurship Institute of San Bernardino (EIOSB), administered by the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD), through its Economic Development and Corporate Training (EDCT) Division, celebrated the program’s grand opening on Jan. 17 with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. District Chancellor Bruce Baron welcomed the crowd, noting that “entrepreneurs are major drivers of economic growth in the United States and that California is one of the leading centers of entrepreneurship. "To be a successful business owner, an entrepreneur needs training, mentoring and guidance and the Entrepreneurship Institute is designed to provide the aspiring entrepreneur with the nuts and bolts of business ownership, business creation and business operation, using real world terms and examples,” he said. Keith Butler, a graduate of the first cohort offered by the EIOSB, and Paul Jones, store manager of the San Bernardino Wal-Mart on Hallmark Parkway, which partnered with the program offering fee assistance for those with dreams of owning their own business but who could not afford the tuition, both addressed the audience, heralding the program as one whose content would help develop more professional and skilled business owners who will be able to more successfully contribute to the economic growth of the Inland Empire. Assemblymember Cheryl R. Brown (47th District) was represented by Lisa Blacksher who provided a Certificate of Recognition to the program, emphasizing the need of the community to create new jobs through small business ownership. Led by EDCT CEO Matthew Isaac, Ph.D.; Bruce Underwood, MBA, CFO/Partner of B2B Staffing Services, Inc. and San Bernardino Valley College business instructor; and Professor Michael Assumma, MBA, chair of the Business Department at San Bernardino Valley College, the Entrepreneurship Institute of San Bernardino is a six course program (each course is three or four sessions) leading to a certificate endorsed by the San Bernardino Community College District. Only $395, the classes are held just one evening per week. The second session began Jan. 15 and the sessions are held at the EDCT, 114 S. Del Rosa Drive, in San Bernardino. Additional information on the Jan. 15 session of the Entrepreneurship Institute of San Bernardino is available at www.EIOSB.com or by calling 909-382-4037. Seating in the program is limited but there are still spaces available.
