Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Approximately five million households in the United States do not have working fire alarms. Each year, more than 400 people die from unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning, and more than 20,000 are sent to the emergency room from toxic fumes, which humans cannot detect.

These numbers are alarming, but fortunately, the City of Moreno Valley is here to help. As we continue our month-long focus on public safety, I wanted to personally highlight another valuable resource that the City of Moreno Valley offers to our residents to help them keep their homes and families better protected: our Smoke Alarms & Fire Education Resources (S.A.F.E.R.) program.

MoVal’s S.A.F.E.R. program provides one free smoke alarm and one free carbon monoxide detector to Moreno Valley families in need. The City offers these alarms, along with a wealth of information on home and fire safety, to build awareness and better protect our families.

Residents can stop by City Hall at 14177 Frederick Street during business hours and receive a free Fire Safety Pack with one smoke alarm and one carbon monoxide alarm. Please note that proof of Moreno Valley residency is required.

The City also offers a $50 cash rebate for residents who have already recently purchased their own alarms. Just bring your receipt or proof of purchase with you to City Hall.
