For the 64th time, talented youth are invited to show off their musical aptitude for a chance to take the Redlands Bowl stage in a joint recital during Redlands' annual classical music festival. Inland Empire youth are invited to participate in a competitive audition process where chosen talent will perform on stage during the 92nd Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival, hosted by the Redlands Community Music Association, in a joint instrumental and vocal music recital. Auditioners will try out for two groups. The junior group piano and instrumental musicians must be 10 to 18 years of age, inclusive, not yet enrolled in college. Vocal musicians in the junior group are 18 to 23 years of age, inclusive. The senior group piano and instrumental musicians are 19 to 26 years of age, inclusive. Entrants younger than 18 but enrolled in college are considered seniors. Vocal musicians are 24 to 30 years of age, inclusive. Qualified applicants must have adequate training attested to by current or former teachers through signed recommendation letters. Applications are due March 27 and auditions will be held Sunday, April 26, at the University of Redlands. Preliminary auditions will be held at 1 p.m. and final auditions at 7 p.m. Final auditions are open to the public. Those chosen will perform as part of the summer concert series on June 30. Those selected for the junior group will also receive a $500 reward and those in the senior group will receive $1,000 contingent upon participation in the June 30 performance. The annual music festival is a near 100-year standing tradition in the Redlands community, providing admission free public music concerts through donor support. The concerts take place each Tuesday and Friday during the summer, drawing thousands to the performances. Applications for the upcoming festival are limited to the first 50 received by the deadline. Applications include a non-refundable $50 registration fee. Completed applications must be mailed to the Redlands Community Music Association, Young Artists Auditions, 168 S. Eureka St., Redlands, CA, 92373. Checks must be made payable to R.C.M.A., Inc. The University of Redlands is located at 1200 E. Colton Ave. Visit http://redlandsbowl.org/watch-for-information-on-the-young-artists-competition-for-2015/ to read audition requirements and to download an application.
