MORENO VALLEY>> Natalie Zimmerer earned her first collegiate start in California Baptist University's most important PacWest match of the season to date on Saturday, Oct. 8. The redshirt freshman setter rose to the occasion and led the Lancers to a five-set win at Concordia University of Irvine and was named the PacWest Freshman of the Week on Monday, Oct. 10. Zimmerer did not show her youth, compiling 43 assists, seven digs, four blocks and two kills in the 25-18, 17-25, 19-25, 25-14, 15-13 win in Irvine. The Lancers hit over .350 in all three set wins, hitting .455 in the first set, .360 in the fourth and .400 in the fifth. It is the third-straight weekly PacWest honor for CBU, but first freshman award. With the win, CBU took over sole possession of second place in the PacWest by improving to 12-4, 7-1 in conference. It was just the second loss of the season to the Eagles, 16-2, 7-2. The Lancers will look to maintain its top-two position this week, as they host Azusa Pacific University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Point Loma Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m.
