Edwards Mansion at Orange Tree Lane in Redlands presents 'Spectacular Spanish Guitar' with virtuoso Daniel Weston in concert on Mother's Day, May 11th at 2 p.m. The classical guitar show in the midst of the trees and fountain of the garden patio at historic Edwards Mansion features the music of Weston as he performs music masterpieces from five centuries. A direct heir by mentorship to legendary Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909), considered the Patriarch of modern-era classical guitar, Weston performs Tarrega's Spanish Impressionist showpieces, those of his contemporaries Enrique Granados and Isaac Albeniz, plus his own original compositions. Daniel Weston earned Bachelor (Union College '86) and Master of Music (University of Redlands '93) degrees before turning professional in Northern California in 1996. Now, after performing numerous shows from Sacramento (Crocker Art Museum) and Stockton (Haggin Museum) to Santa Fe (El Meson) and Taos (Harwood Museum of Art, UNM) and Pebble Beach Resorts (Monterey Bay) in over 750 appearances, Weston will share his music with the Inland Empire. Program Luis Milan (1500-1561) 'Pavanes' (royal court music) Gaspar Sanz (1640-1710) 'Espanoleta' (early Spanish dance music) Fernando Sor (1778-1839) 'Variations on a theme of Mozart' (showpiece) Francisco Tarrega (set of lovely masterpieces including 'Capricho Arabe') Isaac Albeniz 'Leyenda' (depicts the Legend of the conquest of the Moors) Enrique Granados 'Baile no. 5' (important Impressionist dance work) Antonio Lauro 'Valse Criollo' (Venezuelan dance) Daniel Weston 'Nature Suite' plus world premier of 'Verve'.
