During the summer months, food pantries experience a decrease in food reserves which is why Stater Bros. Charities is donating $150,000 to help bolster reserves as part of its ongoing efforts to support the critical needs in the communities Stater Bros. Markets serves. Funds for these donations were collected at each Stater Bros. Supermarket checkstand this past holiday season during the company’s “Harvesting Hope in Our Community” campaign. On Wednesday, July 15th, Stater Bros. representatives presented a $20,000 check as part of the “Harvesting Hope in the Summer” campaign to representatives from Feeding America Riverside San Bernardino. “Feeding America Riverside San Bernardino is honored to have been selected by Stater Bros. Charities to receive this significant donation,” said Bill Carnegie, the Food Bank's CEO. “Summer is an especially difficult time for the food bank and the people we serve. This donation will go far in our fight to alleviate hunger in the Inland Empire”, he added. These funds will be used to support the Kids’ Produce Market program in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. “At Stater Bros., we don’t just do business in the community, we are part of the community,” stated Jack H. Brown, Chairman and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets. “The ‘Harvesting Hope in the Summer Program’ helps to give our local food pantries and the valued communities they serve some extra help when it’s needed most.” Brown further added.
