Band students from some of our elementary schools spent the week learning the fundamentals for a head start on the coming school year’s band classes. About 45 students attended MVUSD’s Elementary Summer Band Camp, designed to give students just starting a head start, but is also open to students who want to keep up on their instrument during the summer. Greg Solomon, MVUSD’s Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts, said the week’s focus is on the fundamentals of the instruments, good tone, and blending with other instruments in the band. The week was capped by a short demonstration performance for parents.
