There are more than 3,000 homeless or displaced youth in Moreno Valley, and there is not one youth homeless shelter. Rising Stars has taken the initiative to start what is the Homeless Youth Epidemic Project (HYE Project). Rising Stars Business Academy YouthBuild is a non-profit Leadership Development Program that strives to develope young adults between the ages of 16-24, helping them reach their goal of becoming civic leaders in the city. The Executive Director, Alicia Berridge, and her team has been taking youth to the City Council meetings to bring awareness and request support from city leaders, councilmembers, business owners, community leaders, church leaders and residents of Moreno Valley. Rising Stars Business Academy YouthBuild is looking for donations and sponsors to help sustain and maintain the proposed acquired home. The team's goal is to reach $10,000 for both homes; one for young boys and the other for young girls. They are asking the community to become partners with Rising Stars Business Academy for one year to make a monthly contribution towards their fundraising goal.
