Although, she didn't win the $1,000, she is still eligible! Amy Santoya, resident of Grand Terrace is this week’s City News Group Inc. Sweepstakes’ weekly winner, earning herself a free meal for two from Woody’s Classic Grill.

By entering into the sweepstakes, Santoya is eligible to win $1,000 on December 3rd and you have time to enter too but time is running out! Enter before December 3rd for your chance to win $1,000 at no purchase necessary!

This week’s winner won a free meal from Woody’s by finding a Woody’s ad on City News Group’s website with a Bag of Money icon, clicking on it, and submitting an entry to win.

“I am ecstatic and thankful to the City News that I won,” Santoya said.

Woody’s Classic Grill was the first local business to give away a prize back in March 2020. The restaurant joined the sweepstakes program to connect back with the community in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and inform the community that their local business is still open.

This week’s winner is a full-time graduate student that attends the University of Southern California Family Nurse Practitioner program who has been faced with the new challenges brought on by the Coronavirus.

“COVID-19 has created challenges for the need to adapt to a social distance learning environment for my 8-year-old son,” Santoya said. “As a parent, social distance learning can become an obstacle when trying to find the specific tools, time and energy that are conductive to learning. Even though COVID-19 has negatively affected the ability to engage in social activities, it has made me realize how grateful I am for my family's health and well-being.”

In her spare time, Santoya enjoys baking cookies, cakes and loves going for walks around Grand Terrace with her kids. Santoya can rest assured and enjoy a delicious meal from Grand Terrace local favorite, Woody’s Classic Grill.

From the restaurant’s inception, Woody’s Classic Grill owner Mike Miller emphasized that “we build our business one guest at a time” and in return it creates a strong foundation for their business. “If we can get one guest to come in and they love our food, our service, like the value of our food, then they’ll go out and tell people.”

Woody’s can be compared to a modern-day Cheers, because any guest that goes to Woody’s will be greeted with a smile and fully enjoy the friendliness of the employees and eventually everyone will know your name.

This week’s winner won a free meal from Woody’s by finding a Woody’s ad on City News Group’s website with a Bag of Money icon, clicking on it, and submitting an entry to win with no purchase necessary. By submitting an entry to win a free meal from Woody’s, Tisdale is also entered to win the grand prize of $1,000 on December 3, 2020.

We look up to and are proud of our local businesses, like Woody’s for keeping their business open and for continuing to serve the community.

As a member of the community, we thank everyone who has continued to support their local businesses. How have you had to adapt?

City News welcomes residents and local businesses to share their stories with us and let us know how you have adapted and accommodated throughout this pandemic.

“This program is awesome because it rewards not only the people coming to the website, it rewards the businesses, “Miller said. “It’s a win-win situation for everybody.”

A community should support each other and we hope this is a way to bring everyone together again.
