The Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Main Laboratory has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs.

The U.S. Federal Government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program. The ARMC Main Laboratory is one of 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

“This gold standard of accreditation represents the highest benchmark in the industry and we are proud to be among this elite group of facilities recognized worldwide,” said Hospital Director, William Gilbert. “Our tireless and diligent laboratory staff as a whole has enabled us to achieve such a level of certification.”

During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs, and overall management.

“Receiving CAP accreditation is an important recognition of our laboratory as we continue to provide and advance high-quality care, safe diagnostic testing, and reliable results,” said Laboratory Director, Carolyn S. Leach, M.D. “With the vigilance of our staff we adhere to the highest, industry-specific standards while providing compassionate care to our patients.”
