Recently, teachers from Vista Heights Middle School collaborated with educators from around California in Sacramento at the California Department of Education’s Global Mentoring Day. Vista Heights was participating as part of the Education for a Global Economy: California’s Model Programs award.

Vista Heights is one of three schools in the state to receive the award, which recognizes programs that prepare students to live, work, and thrive in a multicultural, multilingual, and highly connected world. The award recognized the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program with a $3000 grant, which is being used to purchase digital voice recorders for the world language department.

At the mentoring day, Vista Heights was partnered with the California World Language Project, which will be providing support throughout the school year in order to enhance the Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese classes offered at the school.

“We are so proud that Vista Heights has been honored for preparing our students to meet the demands of a global economy,” said Board Member Gary Baugh, “Students are highly prepared for high school when they complete their time at Vista Heights and are on the path to a successful college education and a career.”
