Supervisor's Weekly Message: Get Your Volunteer On!

Dear District 5 Residents,

In a society where money tends to motivate most people, we forget that there is something more rewarding that does not have a price tag on it. This is called volunteering, where time and passion come together for the greater good of the community. Volunteering helps build a strong, vibrant, connected community. Trust me, I understand that you aren’t taking money home from the time you put in, but what you do take home is the reward of helping the most vulnerable in your communities. I highly encourage everyone to dedicate their time and talents to a greater cause. It is truly a fantastic sight to see people come together and share the same visions.

If that is not enough, volunteering also offers the chance to learn new skills. Depending on how often you volunteer, the benefit of growing professionally and expressing interest in potential career paths also takes action. Lastly, volunteering is also scientifically proven to positively impact mental/physical health, increase happiness, and reduce stress.

To explore opportunities on how you could volunteer, please visit rivco.org/volunteer-opportunities to explore a wide range of options in our county! Some exciting opportunities include:

  • American Red Cross: Riverside County
  • Animal Shelter Volunteer Program
  • Community Outreach Volunteer Services
  • Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
  • Volunteer Center of Riverside County
  • Volunteer Firefighters
  • Volunteer Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages
  • California MENTOR Program

Interested in serving on a Board, Commission, or Committee? Please look at our openings within the 5th District at rivcodistrict5.org/boards-committees-commissions. I strongly encourage members of the community including residents, landowners, and business owners to apply. Your dedication to public service is greatly admired!

Let's work together and give back to our community, your efforts will create a lasting impact that will set the tone for generations to come!

Thank you,

Yxstian Riverside County Supervisor
