The 2014 Jettribe Lake Perris PWC Gran Prix Endurance Race, presented by Hydro-Turf&Tech, was held on Saturday March 22nd. The race was attended by family and friends of contestants, however there were also viewers not associated with the contestants. The viewers watched from the shore as the race spread across approximately 5¼ miles of Lake Perris. The event was split into two races, with each race lasting about one hour. The races were broken into different classes and each class was allowed teams within the classes. On-site camping was provided for the contestants, their family and the participating crew of the event. In addition to the scenic lake and the many hike trails available, the Ya'i Heki' Regional Indian Museum is located on the premises. Events such as the Gran Prix Endurance Race and others provided to the general public are free, with the only charge being parking. Anne Johnson, a local resident, enjoys the hiking trails and the lake often with her grandchildren. “I came today because I have two groups of friends that each have a thirteen-year-old son and I thought they would enjoy it. I have been involved with off-road racing and I love all kinds of racing but I love lake Perris, because I not only swim here in the summer, but I do lot of hiking year-round,” said Johnson. Betsy Gudino grew up visiting the lake with her family and brought her younger brother to enjoy the lakes activities as she did when she was younger. She wanted to help give her brother the same memories of the race that she had from when she was younger. The event provided local entertainment for a weekend family outing to surrounding residents. The race was a hallmark moment for those who won and will be moving on to the finals, as well as an experience for the attendees to gather together and bond. The contestants were commemorated at the award ceremony. For the results of the races, visit www.rpmracingent.com/Results.html.
