PacWest Track Athlete of the Year

RIVERSIDE >> California Baptist University's Valentin Robert picked up the highest conference honor on Wednesday, June 8 after being named the PacWest Track Co-Athlete of the Year. Robert excelled in the steeplechase, earning All-American honors with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, clocking in at eight minutes, 58.94 seconds. It was his second-straight NCAA Division II Championship appearance after he took 10th last year for All-American, second-team honors. The Frenchman recorded the two fastest times in the 3000 meter steeplechase in CBU history during the season, setting the record at the Mt. SAC Relays with a time of 8:50.89. Robert picked up the elite honor with another Frenchman, Valentin Pepiot from Academy of Art. The duo went one-two in the PacWest Championship 5K event, with Pepiot just edging out Robert at the end of the competition.
