The Moreno Valley Cultural Arts Foundation, in cooperation with the Moreno Valley Unified School District, present the accomplished classical pianist, Dr. Alma Batista in an offering of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Albeniz to Moreno Valley. The Vista Del Lago High School Theater will be the site for the recital this Saturday evening, April 18 at 7 p.m. There will be a reception that will follow immediately after the performance. The family-friendly performance and reception are free to the public and a great way to introduce young people to classical music. Pianist and composer Alma Batista combines unusual Hispanic and regular classical repertoires in her recitals. She has performed at the Festival de Música Cubana at the Santa Clara University where she premiered Cuban Danzones by Alejandro García Caturla. She also performed a solo piano recital at the City of Riverside's first Classical Music Program and was awarded City of Riverside's Honoree of the Month Award for her help and participation at this event. Most recently her danza Nostalgia received honorary mention at last years’ danza composition contest that takes place every year as part of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture danza week. In 2013, her danza Romanza won first prize in the contemporary category of that same contest. She has appeared as a soloist with the Community Music Center orchestra of San Francisco under the direction of Urs Leonhardt-Steiner. She has presented piano solo and chamber music recitals at the City College of San Francisco, The Faulkner Gallery Series in Santa Barbara, California, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Performances at Six Concert Series in San Francisco, San Francisco Music Center Faculty Artists Series, Rossmore Concert Series in Lafayette, White Barn Concert Series in St. Helena, Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, and Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña. It's an event you don't want to miss.
