The Community Chorus of Redlands and Ensemble XXI through the sponsorship of The Chaplain’s Office of the University of Redlands, John Walsh, Omer E. Robbins, Chaplain, are hosting a special community choral event entitled: “The Healing Power of Music.” This special presentation of choral music, congregational hymns and special readings is intended to bring continued healing to our communities after the tragic events of early December in San Bernardino. “The Healing Power of Music” is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel. Community Chorus of Redlands (70 singers) and Ensemble XXI (30 singers) are the core ensembles under the direction of Jeffrey H. Rickard. Singers from the surrounding communities have been invited to join in on the event. Choral music has been selected for each choir to sing individually, several pieces for all of the choral forces to sing together, as well as four well-known hymns for the choir and audience. The sizable Casavant organ will be in full splendor and will accompany us on several pieces. A free-will offering will be received in support of the victims of Dec. 2. All monies collected will be given directly to the organizations distributing this support.
