GRAND TERRACE>> On Friday, March 17, the Grand Terrace Senior Center and the Blue Mountain Villas partnered together to throw a St. Patrick’s Day themed potluck. This was the first time the Grand Terrace Senior Center and Blue Mountain Villas came together for a holiday potluck. At the potluck, seniors were served the traditional holiday Irish food of corned beef and cabbage with carrots and potatoes. Guests brought side dishes to add to the meal and the celebration. Guests arrived in green and clever St. Patrick’s Day themed costumes to the decorated green venue to enjoy the day’s festivities so no one was “pinched for not wearing green.” Flo Elliott, volunteer director at the Grand Terrace Senior Center, was a speaker at the event and, to add to the festivities, spoke with an Irish accent. Guests listened to traditional Irish music, entered drawings to win small prizes and participated in an enjoyable round of karaoke. “We had a great time and everyone had plenty to eat throughout the event,” Elliott said. A total of 44 people attended the event including new members of the Grand Terrace Senior Center who arrived to enjoy the celebration. Elliott said she believes that they will do potluck events like this in the future, especially on holidays, to add to the fun.
