Grand Opening for Children's Assessment Center

Children’s Fund President’s Circle hosted a grand opening for the Children’s Assessment Center of San Bernardino County recently at the new location of the Center: 700 E. Gilbert Street in San Bernardino. The Children’s Assessment Center treats children ages 0-18 from every area of San Bernardino County who are suspected victims of abuse. Nearly half of the children seen at the Assessment Center are under the age of 5, signaling that a significant portion of the population served by this Center are very young and often cannot speak for themselves. Last year, the Center treated more than 1,300 children from our own communities. Private tours of the new Center were provided so that individuals could visit the medical exam rooms, interview and observation rooms, children's kitchen and playroom, therapy rooms and the garden area. At the event, a list of speakers and guests were able to attend the grand opening of the Center. To list a few, the following speakers were present: Dr. Clare Sheridan-Matney, Medical Director for the Children’s Assessment Center Dr. Amy Young, Associate Medical Director of the San Bernardino County’s Children’s Assessment Center Judge Marsha Slough, Superior Court of San Bernardino County Gregory C. Devereaux, CEO County of San Bernardino Supervisor Janice Rutherford, 2nd District Supervisor James Ramos, 3rd District Supervisor Gary Ovitt, 4th District Mike Ramos, District Attorney San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon Chief Eric Hopley, Ontario Police Department Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Morris -Former Mayor of San Bernardino and co-founder of Children’s Fund Linda Haugan, San Bernardino County Human Services and First 5 Commission Chair Phyllis Morris, Office of the Public Defender CaSonya Thomas, San Bernardino County Dept. of Behavioral Health Trudy Raymundo, San Bernardino County Dept. of Public Health Created in 1986, Children’s Fund is a non-profit whose mission is to prevent child abuse in our community; to ensure that at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education; and to provide equal opportunity for social development for these children.
