GRAND TERRACE>> The 10th anniversary of the Walk on Blue Mountain will be held Sunday, March 5 at 8 a.m. The recent rain may have washed out some of the trail, but also generated abundant wildflowers. This is the communities once-a-year opportunity to enjoy spectacular views in all directions both on the way up and at its 2,428 foot summit. There is no charge to participate, but free-will offerings will be appreciated to help Friends of Blue Mountain’s fund raising efforts so that this wilderness trail can be accessed year round. Commemorative T-shirts will also be available for purchase. Ample parking is available at the gates and down Palm Avenue at Azure Hills Church and the City Hall parking lot. Participants are encouraged to arrive early and remember to bring water, a hat, sunscreen and at least a windbreaker for the always breezy top. Sturdy footwear is a must, and don’t forget your camera. Hikers may begin at 8 a.m. but no later than 10:45 a.m. and start down by 12:30 p.m. Pets are allowed but must remain on a leash. However, dogs are not the only animal friends usually on the mountain as the event is a favorite with llama owners. For those looking for a scenic change in venue, a church service will be held at the top.
