LifeStream blood bank is experiencing a severe shortage of platelets and urges local residents to make an appointment to give this life giving blood component tin the coming days.

Platelets are essential for patients battling cancers and other blood diseases; many of these patients require regular transfusions to continue their fights. Some of these patients are children.

Platelets have an extremely short – 5 days – shelf life, so constant replenishment is needed. To make an appointment this weekend or early next week, please (text) LSAPPT to 444-999.

All five LifeStream donor centers operate 7 days per week as follows:

San Bernardino, 384 W. Orange Show Road: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
