Man Struck by Car After Walking into Traffic, Suffers Major Injuries

A 46-year-old man suffered major injuries Monday when he was hit by a car after walking into traffic on Barton Road near Kansas Street.

The accident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9. The victim, a 46-year-old transient, had walked into the roadway, not at an intersection or marked crosswalk, and was struck by a Nissan Armada, driven by a 54-year-old Redlands man.

The victim was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he remains in critical condition with head and chest injuries.
