Colton will become home to the newest campus of the Center for Employment Training (CET), a non-profit career and technical education facility when leaders from CET and local and state leaders broke ground on the project, which will be located on Pepper Avenue, Aug. 14. The new center is expected to more than double the amount of programs offered by the CET for the Inland Empire area, according to a release issued by CET. Annually, approximately 300 students are expected to enroll for career training. The center, scheduled to open in late fall, will offer industry-driven programs including automotive technology, business office administration, electrical, logistic technician, HVAC technican and green technology, machinist technology-CNC, and welding fabrication. "CET leadership is excited about the new campus and looks forward to working with the community to make this new endeavor a success for the City of Colton and the Inland Empire," the release states. During the groundbreaking event which welcomed dozens of community leaders and members, CET leadership was presented with a resolution by Assemblymember Cheryl Brown and a certificate of recognition from the City of Colton. Juan Pollo and Sushi Miguel’s Style provided light food while Home Depot provided shovels used for the groundbreaking. Founded in 1967, CET has been nationally recognized for its outcomes in program completion and job placement assistance. CET has a network of 15 centers across California, Texas, Illinois, Virginia and North Carolina.
