Chetay Catalano, after months of involvement and service to the Colton Chamber of Commerce, can officially drop the interim from her job title. The official announcement was made last Friday, February 7th by Colton Chamber President, Tony Myrell who shared, "As you know, Chetay Catalano has been working as the Interim Executive Director of the Colton Chamber of Commerce for the past few months. During that time, she has demonstrated her ability to get the job done and her burning desire to make our Chamber a success. She has earned not only the respect of the Chamber Board, but of the community at large. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Chetay Catalano as the Executive Director of the Colton Chamber of Commerce." Catalano began training and working for the Colton Chamber back in April 2013 as the assistant to – then current executive director – Laura Morales. Morales trained Catalano to take over as the executive director in the interim when Morales resigned from the position back in November. As the Colton Chambers executive director Catalano will be responsible for representing and advocating business owners and employers in the community. Catalano grew up in Colton attending Lincoln Elementary and Colton Junior High, and graduating from Colton High School. “Colton is my heart. I grew up in Colton, my family and my parents are still in Colton. I have lots of pride in my city,” asserts Catalano. Catalano shares that her experience working with non-profit organizations to plan and organize fundraising opportunities for the Autism community – which she is still actively involved with – working with the Sheriff’s Department, and as the assistant manager with the County of San Bernardino Commissary have prepared her for this new chapter. “I have lots of customer service [experience] under by belt,” shares Catalano, “I want to see businesses prosper, I am here to connect and reconnect with our Colton businesses. I want what is best for this city.” Catalano shared that she believes anything is possible with hard work and wants to take Colton one step further and follow in Morales’ footsteps. “I want everyone to know how much I believe in the Chamber. Laura took this Chamber to a whole other level, I will carry that torch. The chamber will be successful."
