REDLANDS >> A fundraiser for hostage victim Kristin Bauer was held on Sunday, May 1 at Microbrewery in Redlands. Kristin was inadvertently shot by police on March 24 after she was taken hostage by her ex-boyfriend, Andrew Mike. According to Kristin's father, Greg Bauer, the fundraiser on Sunday was a big success and the microbrewery even made a custom beer just for Kristin. Greg said that there were many vendors and food trucks at the event and many of the neighborhood stores also donated items for gift baskets that were raffled off. This was the first fundraiser that Kristin was able to attend since being released from the hospital last month. According to Greg, Kristin's arm is still in a brace and she is experiencing a great deal of pain. Kristin also has more surgery and a long recovery ahead. Robert Schaefer, an accomplished author with a strong legal background who lives in Forest Falls, knew that insurance would not cover the injuries as a result of the shooting, and used his knowledge to set up a foundation for Kristin. All of the money donated will help pay for Kristin's medical bills and living expenses until she has fully recovered. Those who wish to help Kristin are asked to visit www.gofundme.com/HelpKristinBauer or mail checks payable to "The Kristin Bauer Foundation" and send them to 22797 Barton Road Grand Terrace, CA 92313.
