The University of Redlands Campus Diversity and Inclusion Muslim Journeys Film Series presents “Persepolis” on Friday, Mar. 21, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the Casa Loma Room.
"Persepolis" is a 2007 French animated film based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel of the same name. The story follows a young girl as she comes of age against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution. The story ends with Marjane as a 24-year-old expatriate. The title is a reference to the historic city of Persepolis.
The Muslim Journeys Film Series is an extension of the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, a scholar-led reading and discussion project made possible by the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association. The University of Redlands Armacost Library is one of 842 libraries in the nation to be awarded this grant. The “Bookshelf” includes a collection of books, films and other resources that will introduce the American public to the complex history and culture of Muslims in the United States and around the world.
