Love Shack!

As the old saying goes, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”  I like to repeat that to myself every morning, kind of as a way to justify eating so much that my pants start to hurt my stomach.  I love breakfast, and because of this intense love I like to search out little spots to find the best possible breakfast delights.  I hit the jackpot, folks.

Breakfast Shack, a hip little spot in the heart of Downtown Redlands, has become a home away from home to me.  I guess you can say it was Love At First Bite (see what I did there?)  It’s one of those places that when you walk in the door everyone smiles at you.  Before I get into how amazing the food is, I really want to delve into how utterly fantastic the owners and staff are.  I have an extremely hyper two year old daughter and it is difficult for me to take her out to breakfast, or anywhere where there are breakable items within her reach.  The owners, Kristy and Tom, are so kind to her when we eat there.  They seat us at their retro breakfast counter and give my daughter her own little set-up so she feels like a big girl.  I really can’t tell you how much it means to me when people are kind to my child.  It’s one of the many reasons I’ve grown to love this place so much.

On to the food!  I’m a sucker for some pancakes and these pancakes are unbelievable.  Hot and deliciously smothered with butter and syrup.  I can’t even keep talking about it because now I want some.  I do go through periods where I won’t eat carbs, and Kristy and Tom hook me up with the most insane omelet I’ve ever had.  They have basically any type of omelet you could ever want, and the cheese they use is out of this world.  There is no shortage of options on the menu for whatever type of eater you are.  My biggest hurdle when going out to breakfast is the coffee.  I have to do an honorable mention here about their coffee.  It’s like the clouds in the sky parted and rained down tiny droplets of perfectly roasted coffee beans directly into my cup.  Hey, I’m nothing if not dramatic.  But it really is that good.

The Breakfast Shack is no ordinary shack and it definitely doesn’t carry ordinary food.  It’s become a favorite for my family, and I want other families to fall in love with it, as well.  Do yourself a favor, stop in and get some grub.  You can thank me later!
