Ruben, 81, was born and raised in Colton, CA, to Carolina and Jose Acevedo, the eighth of 12 children. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jennie; five children: Lisa Mendoza (Mark), Ruben Acevedo Jr. (Mark), Brenda Lopez (Joe), Kathy Acevedo, JoAnn Juarez, (Benny); six sisters: Lily, Gloria, Rufina, Annie, Yolanda, Virginia; ten grandchildren Angelina, Robert, Dustin, Amanda, Luis, Joe, Elaina, Jessica, Brooke, Ryan; and ten great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Colton High School in 1960 and received his associate degree at San Bernardino Valley College. Ruben worked at Colton Joint Unified School District for 42 years. He started as a custodian, then a bus driver, and ended his career as Director of Maintenance and Operations. He proudly dedicated his time to various local activities, including the Ken Hubbs Little League as both coach and umpire. His success led to his induction into the Colton Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. He was a passionate fan of the USC Trojans, Dodgers, Rams, and every team for which his grandkids played.

Other hobbies included traveling domestically and abroad and frequent gambling excursions with his pit crew. He also enjoyed listening to mariachi music on his front porch and hosting weekly dinners with his cherished family.

His celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 1-4 pm at Hutton Center in Colton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in his name, to Ken Hubbs Little League P.O. Box 802 Colton, CA. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes.
