Castaneda Signs On to Be a Coyote

SAN BERNARDINO >> San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Men’s Soccer sophomore starting forward Jose Castaneda (Lake Arrowhead Rim of the World) has signed a letter of intent to play for Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) next season. Castaneda participated in 25 games over his freshman and sophomore seasons. In 2015 he grabbed a goal at home versus Citrus and made the game tying goal at Santiago Canyon, all while taking 14 shots. Castaneda will join former SBVC teammates, Michiel Nijsten, Juan Maldonado, Miguel Garcia-Rosas and Jonathan Monroy at KWU. Under the tutelage of tenth-year coach Josh Brown, SBVC Men's Soccer ended the year with a 7-6-8 overall record and a 4-3-1 conference record. As a reward for their second place finish in the Foothill Conference, the team was bestowed with the Coach of the Year award, three first team All-Conference honors, three second team All-Conference honors and five Honorable Mentions. Kansas Wesleyan University is located in Salina, Kansas. The Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes play at Graves Family Sports Complex and the team is coached by third-year veteran coach, Phillip Bohn. In the 2015 season, the Coyotes went 6-3-1 in conference play, with an overall record of 9-8-2. The Coyotes lost in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. KWU is in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
