Upcoming Resource Fair to Offer Health, Resource Connections

Parents and students will receive a strong dose of health and wellness on Saturday, Feb. 21, when Colton Joint Unified School District's Community Cabinet hosts a resource fair at Colton High School. Varopis business, community and nonprofit partners will gather at the fair to offer information and services in several areas including counseling and youth mentoring, fitness, nutrition, dentistry, law enforcement and childcare. Activities will include blood pressure and cholesterol screenings and healthy cooking, Zumba and fire prevention demonstrations. Colton Joint Unified School District’s Community Cabinet is an alliance between business, labor, community and education leaders working toward the goal of ensuring that students enter the workforce with skills, knowledge and resources needed for success. It includes committees focused on projects to support schools in the areas of early preparation, literacy, academic and career readiness, and mental and physical health awareness. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Colton High School, 777 W. Valley Blvd., in Colton. The event will be held inside the main campus, accessed by entering the school from Dortha Cooley Lane off either Valley Boulevard or F Street.
