When statewide education organizations need leaders, they have often turned to Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD). The latest example is the California Educational Technology Professionals Association (CETPA), which recently chose Aaron Barnett as president. Barnett serves as director of Information Systems for MVUSD. CETPA is a non-profit membership organization, comprised of educational technology professionals (technologists) who support schools in California. The organization fosters a spirit of innovation and professional development in its membership and strives to improve public education by helping its members meet the technological needs of their districts’ instructional program. “CETPA does tremendously important work,” said Barnett. “Technology is no longer a stand-alone focus of study; it’s fully integrated as an important teaching and learning tool in all aspects of education. CETPA helps districts stay close to the cutting edge, which is great for students. We are shaping the future of education through technology.” Some others from MVUSD currently in statewide leadership positions include Superintendent Dr. Judy D. White, president of the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA); School Board President Jesús M. Holguín, who recently finished a year as president of the powerful California School Boards Association (CSBA); and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, who serves as president of the California League of Middle Schools (CLMS).
