Properly Disposing of Toxic Waste has its Rewards

Those who bring their toxic waste to the Redlands Household Hazardous Waste or another authorized San Bernardino County collection center could win a cool free t-shirt. Products such as leftover paint, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, motor oil, anti-freeze, batteries and household cleaners often contain toxic chemicals that can be dangerous if not disposed of properly so don’t keep them in the house. The cities of Redlands and Rialto have partnered with the San Bernardino County Stormwater Program to encourage residents to properly dispose of household hazardous wastes at the Redlands collection center at the Redlands Corporate Yard, 500 Kansas St. in Redlands every Saturday between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. or the Rialto City Maintenance Yard, 246 S. Willow Ave. in Rialto, on the second and fourth Friday and Saturday of each month, from 8 a.m. to noon. When you drop off your household hazardous waste, provide your email address and you’ll be entered to win a t-shirt, while supplies last. San Bernardino County residents may bring 15 gallons or 125 pounds of residential waste only, in containers no larger than 5 gallons per visit. Visit TooToxicToTrash.com for more information and to take the pledge to properly dispose of toxic waste.
