Moreno Valley Encourages Participation on Boards and Commissions

Citizen input is a valuable tool for the City’s progress in several areas. The City of Moreno Valley has 11 boards and commissions covering important quality-of-life topics. Currently, there are four boards and commissions with openings that Moreno Valley residents (or business customers of Moreno Valley Utility for the Utilities Commission) are encouraged to apply for. Please visit the Boards and Commissions webpage at www.moval.org/city_council/commissions for qualifications and deadlines. Current vacancies exist on the following boards or commissions: • Utilities Commission • Arts Commission • Parks and Recreation Commission • July 4 Advisory Board All Advisory Boards and Commissions are established by the Moreno Valley City Council and include: • The Accessibility Appeals Board, conducting public hearings on written appeals regarding Title 24 accessibility issues • The Arts Commission, considering matters pertaining to planning and promoting arts activities and education in the City • The Environmental and Historical Preservation Board, considering matters pertaining to the preservation of the City’s heritage and cultures • The July 4th Advisory Board, considering matters pertaining to promoting and seeking possible funding sources for the City’s July 4th festivities • The Library Commission, considering matters pertaining to the administration, operation, development, improvement and maintenance of library services • The Parks and Recreation Commission, considering matters pertaining to the administration, operation, development, improvement and maintenance of parks, recreation facilities, and parks and recreation programs • The Planning Commission, considering matters pertaining to development and zoning within the City (Planning Commissioners are compensated $100 per meeting) • The Recreational Trails Board, considering matters pertaining to single-use and multi-use recreational trails, including bicycle, jogging and equestrian trails • The Senior Citizens’ Board, considering matters pertaining to senior citizens, senior citizens’ programs, including policies for the Moreno Valley Senior Community Center • The Traffic Safety Commission, considering matters pertaining to traffic safety within the City • The Utilities Commission, considering all matters pertaining to Moreno Valley Utility, and to other utility services such as water, sewer, gas, and the investor-owned electric utility For more information, current openings, and board and commission meeting information, please visit the City’s Web site at http://www.moval.org/city_council/commissions.shtml or contact the City Clerk’s Office at 951-413-3001 or visit during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
