On Saturday, May 31st The Rock Church and World Outreach Center hosted their first “Good Works Expo.” This expo was a day for both the church and the local community to gather together and see their Outreach Ministries in action and take advantage of all the resources the church offers to help those in need. At the Good Works Expo over 3,000 hot dogs were handed out, more than 350 families were given bags full of groceries, and 200 people received free haircuts and hygiene supplies. The day’s event also included free popcorn, snow cones, shoes and clothing. Throughout the day the families enjoyed free activities for the children ranging from face painting to bounce houses. There was also free information and tips from the Southern California Gas Company on how to save money, car maintenance demonstrations, health care information and discussions, and free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, with an overall focus of helping people save money and live healthier! There was also an open job fair with over 15 companies ready to hire. Individuals were able to get information about different companies, as well as, apply for several jobs right on the spot. There was an amazing turn out of prospective employers and employees and The Rock Church believes they will soon hear reports of many answered prayers from those who came! Director of Outreach Ministries, Menhyonne Beckham, fulfilled the vision of a day to serve the local community and the church, meet their needs and minister to them with gracious hearts. The amount of people who came to volunteer, and came to participate exceeded all expectations. Locals left with smiling faces, full stomachs, bags of clothes and food, and knowing that the church loves them!
