The City of Redlands is proud to announce that its Purchasing Division was recently named a recipient of the 2015 “Achievement of Excellence in Procurement” Award from the national Procurement Institute, an organization that promotes excellence in governmental and institutional procurement. The AEP Award annually recognizes organizational excellence in public procurement.Award criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement and leadership attributes of the procurement function. The City of Redlands is one of only 49 agencies in California and one of only 65 cities in the United States and Canada to receive the award. “This award demonstrates the innovative efforts of the City’s staff in areas that the public may not even be aware of,” said Mayor Paul Foster.“While the average resident would probably not think about the details of procurement methods, the reality is those are the very details that provide the structure and backbone on which all the more visible public services and operations function.” “I am extremely proud of the work by Purchasing Manager Dana Abramovitz-Daniel to help change our organizational culture and modernize the City’s purchasing and procurement processes,” said City Manager N. Enrique Martinez. “Her efforts converted the City’s purchasing department from an inefficient and archaic warehousing system that stockpiled supplies on shelves where they gathered dust or became obsolete, to a modern, fully automated on-demand system that makes our staff more efficient and saves the City money.” Added Mayor Foster: “Increasingly modern and efficient business practices, such as these, translate into direct savings and greater service to our residents and businesses.”
