San Bernardino National Forest Announces New Deputy Forest Supervisor

SAN BERNARDINO>> Kay Wiand has been selected as the new Deputy Forest Supervisor of the San Bernardino National Forest. She is currently the National Budget Coordinator for Recreation, Lands and Wilderness Programs in the Washington Office. “We are very excited about Kay coming to the Inland Empire,” said Forest Supervisor Jody Noiron. “She has significant experience in recreation, lands and the forest service budget. Kay’s energy and grasp of complex issues will make her a great addition to the San Bernardino National Forest.” Wiand, received a bachelor of arts degree in history and political science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 2001. Wiand continued with her education and received a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland in 2005. Wiand began her Forest Service career in June of 2006 at the Forest Service Washington Office, working in Strategic Planning, Budget and Analysis. Throughout her career with the Forest Service she has worked in national recreation, budget and lands related programs as well as on other national teams such as open space conservation. Kay is married to Scott and they have two children. Wiand reported for duty Oct. 3 and fills behind former Deputy Supervisor John Exline who was promoted to the Pacific Southwest Regional Office last May.
