Open auditions for LifeHouse Theater’s “Treasure Island” will be Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at LifeHouse Theater, 1135 N. Church Street, Redlands. Auditions will be held on a first come-first served basis. All are welcome and roles are open for men and women. Men are especially encouraged to audition. Boys auditioning for the role of “Jim Hawkins” should be at least ten years old. All others auditioning must be at least fifteen years of age. Auditioners should bring a theatrical resume and a recent photo to leave with the audition panel. Those without a photo may have a picture taken at the auditions for a $2 fee. Auditioners should also bring their own sheet music in the preferred key, and be prepared to sing a short selection of about 16 measures. A pianist will be provided but will not be able to transpose any sheet music. Auditions with CDs will not be accepted. Those without sheet music will be asked to sing “Happy Birthday” with the accompanist. “Treasure Island” opens Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 7:30 PM and will continue on weekends through July 13, 2014. Performances are Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2:15 PM (except Opening Night) and 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:15 PM. In addition to the weekend performances, there will be a special Thursday performance on July 10, 2014 at 7:30 PM. There will not be a performance on Friday, July 4. The action-packed musical, written by writer-producer Wayne R. Scott with renowned film and stage composers Jason and Nolan Livesay, and directed by Jeffrey A. DeWitt, contains all the memorable elements of the novel and a few added surprise twists. Intrigue combines with double crosses, a treasure chest, swashbuckling sword fights and the unraveling of mysterious secrets to make this an unforgettable theater experience for all ages. Modern critics routinely hail Robert Louis Stevenson’s immortal classic “Treasure Island” as literature’s greatest adventure tale.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
