Loma Linda University Health PossAbilities is hosting a wheelchair collection drive benefiting Joni and Friends Wheels for the World. Any new or used non-electric wheelchairs, canes or walkers may be dropped off Friday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the PossAbilities office, 25455 Barton Rd., Suite 109A, Loma Linda. Electric wheelchairs cannot be accepted due to the cost of transportation. A tax donation receipt will be provided by Joni and Friends Wheels for the World. PossAbilities is a free, non-profit, community outreach program to provide individuals of all ages with permanent physical disabilities support and resources to stay active and healthy in life. Loma Linda University Health has run this program since 2001. Joni and Friends Wheels for the World, as part of its Christian ministry, provides free wheelchairs to children and adults affected by disability worldwide. The wheelchairs are collected nationwide and restored by inmates at correctional facilities across the country to like-new condition.
