The Inland Empire Art Institute of California recently held their Design and Media Arts Portfolio Show. According to Alfredo Arazia, who has been working for the Art Institute for 5 years and runs the front desk, "The show presented the works of the graduating students. It ranges from all kinds of art: from design to digital film to audio making to graphic design to media arts to animation... I love it! There's a lot of students that go into it together and get to show off their work." The Career Services Adviser Kia Spell shares, "When we first started it was a little bit less, but every year it's growing... I think it's wonderful! I think it gets better every quarter because we take the knowledge we get from the previous one and grow from it... We have been doing this for about 8 years now." Student Yasmina Colony shares, "I redesign and find things from other companies. My best work is the carpet cleaning website I designed." George Rubio says, "It's pretty good. It is nice to see a variety! These are showcasing the diversities. I work with 3D (animation) but I can also do flat." McKayla Gilbaugh says, "I want to work with illustrations for comic books!" Eric Nara shares, "I do recording and mixing. I add effects to make it more radio friendly." Daniel Cullen-Emery shares, "It's going pretty great! It's just loud over here because of all us audio kids." The room is sectioned off by the types of art that they do. Many friends and family members of the students came to support them and, according to Shelly Flowers, "about 80 industries show up to the shows... These shows happen every 90 days, so every quarter." So if you missed out on these portfolios you can get another chance to see a different set in about 3 months. The participating graduating artists included: Cassandra Rivera, Nicholas Reeves-Horn, Trevor Johnson, Jasmine Isabelle, Garret Lapham, Jarred Sanfilippo, Joe Negrete, Eric Nava, Jimmy Casillas, Daniel Cullen-Emery, Mike Crawley, Daniel Huerta, Bryan Salazar, Brandon Cortez, Lynn Staples, Alyssa Mancillas, Samuel Martinez, Myra Martinez, Destiny Jones, Preston Openshaw, Kurt Bernardin, George Rubio, Yasmina Colony, Cesar Marrujo, Sean Houlihan, McKayla Gilbaugh, Marabella Peterson, Ezekiel Adam, Monique Reyoza, Justin Valdivia, Cynthia Bracamonte, Joey Koslik, Anthony Autobee, Carolyn Morgan, and Lynn S. Oliva.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
