The 39th Redlands Community Hospital Foundation (RCHF) Golf Classic for the Ken Corwin Cup will return this on June 17, 2021 at 9 a.m. Continuing with tradition, Redlands Country Club will host the tournament with an estimated 100 golfers expected to participate. Despite the decrease in players in order to accommodate current safety protocols, excitement is running high.
RCHF has named Assemblymember James C. Ramos and his wife, Terri Ramos, as Honorary Co-Chairs for its 39th tournament. This year all net proceeds will support Redlands Community Hospital’s Fight Against Cancer Initiative and the planned construction of a new Center for Cancer Care. Redlands Community Hospital (RCH) is an independent, stand-alone, not-for-profit community hospital in the heart of the Inland Empire and Ramos’s Assembly district.
“The Golf Classic is always a very special event,” said Kathy Meredith, RCHF Board Chair. “Not only is it great fun for both the golfers and the community, but it raises a significant amount of money each year for projects that are important to the hospital and to our neighbors.”
For nearly four decades, the Golf Classic has been the highest profile and most anticipated fundraiser to benefit Redlands Community Hospital, drawing golfers and other support from throughout the Inland Empire. The last tournament raised an estimated $250,000 to support the RCH Emergency Department expansion project. This year’s limited field is supported by volunteers, hospital staff and Redlands County Club Members, who will be working diligently on tournament day to assist with safety precautions and to help ensure the event is the same rousing success as always.
Once again, Hatfield Buick will sponsor Hole-in-One prize for this year’s tournament. Joining them are more than 100 individuals and businesses, including the Redlands Community Hospital Medical Staff, who support the tournament each year.
A significant change to the tournament schedule includes the elimination of both the live and silent auctions. However, golfers can expect a quality tournament with 18 holes of golf and a spectacular dinner for players and supporters. Check in will be at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. start, cocktail hour at 4 p.m., and dinner will be served at 5 p.m.
“There couldn’t be a more important beneficiary from this tournament than our emerging Cancer Center that is expanding to meet the needs of our patients,” Jan Opdyke, Foundation President said. “Redlands Community Hospital is adding experts across the spectrum of cancer care and has invested in new technologies that will aid in the detection and diagnosis of specific types of cancer. We are updating our clinical offices and expanding our infusion center in the coming months.”
