Continuing to support county employees affected by the Dec. 2 terrorist attack and assisting in the overall recovery of the community were among the goals and objectives for the coming year unanimously adopted Tuesday (March 1) by the Board of Supervisors. "The strength and resiliency of our people is an inspiration to us all," said Board of Supervisors Chairman James Ramos. "We are committed to continuing to help our employees and our community recover from this attack and use what we learn to help anyone else who might experience a similar tragedy." Implementing the Countywide Vision, increasing jobs and economic value, and ensuring the development of a well-planned, balanced, and sustainable county were also among the goals and objectives established by the board. Annual goals and objectives were established to create a clear line of authority between the public, as represented by the Board of Supervisors, and the activities carried out by County Government. All County Government activities and spending must be directly tied toward achieving the Board's Goals & Objectives. The Board meets annually with the Chief Executive Officer to evaluate his performance in carrying out the goals and objectives and to draft goals and objectives for the year ahead. "This Board is committed to open and accountable government," Chairman Ramos said. "Publicly setting goals and objectives ensures that the public sets the County's course and that County staff is accountable to the Board of Supervisors." The categories under which the Goals & Objectives fall are: -Implement the Countywide Vision -Create, Maintain and Grow Jobs and Economic Value in the County --Improve County Government Operations --Operate in a Fiscally Responsible and Business-like Manner --Ensure Development of a Well-Planned, Balanced, and Sustainable County --Provide for the Safety, Health, and Social Service Needs of County Residents --Pursue County Goals and Objectives by Working with Other Agencies -Focus on Recovery and Resiliency Following the Dec. 2, 2015 Terrorist Attack (SB Strong)
