In recent years, due to state budget cuts, it’s become harder for California students to gain admission to California’s public universities, but under an agreement signed at the Oct. 7 Moreno Valley Unified School Board meeting, MVUSD students who meet requirements set forth by Cal State San Bernardino will be guaranteed admission to the university.
“Suddenly, with this agreement, attending college has become much more of a reality for many students who otherwise might have found themselves standing at the back of the line, waiting to see whether there will be room for them,” said MVUSD Superintendent Dr. Judy D. White. “Both our students and Cal State San Bernardino win with this agreement.”
CSUSB stands to gain only well-prepared MVUSD graduates, as under the agreement, students, in addition to meeting the university’s basic admission standards, also must be ready to dive right into college-level work without needing any sort of remedial instruction.
“This benefits students who already work hard, providing them with the knowledge that CSUSB is there for them,” explained Assistant Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora. “And it’s a motivator for other students to step it up and work harder, safe in the knowledge that their efforts really can pay off with guaranteed admission to a Cal State university.”
The guaranteed-admission agreement takes effect for current MVUSD seniors, the Class of 2015.
