CELEBRATE THE SEASON AT THE LRPPG FALL FESTIVAL

The second annual Fall Festival will take place at the Louis Robidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove (LRPPG) on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 5370 Riverview Dr., Jurupa Valley, CA 92509. This free, family-friendly event invites community members of all ages to celebrate the fall season with an afternoon of fun, food, and lively entertainment.

This year’s Fall Festival will feature new activities alongside community favorites from last year. Attendees can pick pumpkins from the LRPPG pumpkin patch, sourced from local farmers, and decorate them on-site. Free food will be provided by El Sabor de Las 8 Regiones and Kona Ice, and booths hosted by local organizations will be set up across the property, offering family-friendly activities, giveaways, and information on upcoming events. Visitors are also encouraged to participate in a self-guided scavenger hunt, with all completed entries eligible for grand prize drawings for tickets to Knott’s Scary Farm and Castle Dark.

One of the exciting highlights of the Festival is the “Keep it Healthy, Keep it Wild” poster contest. Open to all elementary-level students from the Jurupa Valley Unified School District, the contest encourages participants to create posters that illustrate how spending time outdoors can promote both personal health and environmental well-being. The winners of the contest will be announced by Jurupa Valley Mayor Guillermo Silva.

Another key attraction of the event will be live performances by KALLI TECPATL and Ballet Folklórico Amor, Cultura, y Tradición, bringing the richness of cultural traditions to life through music and dance. A schedule of performances, list of exhibitors, and other Fall Festival details is available at louisrobidouxparkland.org/events and posted at the on-site kiosk at the Parkland.

“We’re thrilled to bring the community together once again for our second Fall Festival,” said Mandy Parkes, District Manager at the Inland Empire Resource Conservation District, one of several local organizations working to revitalize the Parkland. “This event is a fantastic opportunity to thank the surrounding community for all of their support as we work with partners to continue restoring LRPPG.”

In addition to scheduled activities, attendees will have a chance to view the property’s expanding biodiversity garden, the recently installed pollinator garden, Chronolog photostations (where visitors can contribute photos to document site progress), and the native plant nursery, which is scheduled for expansion and renovation this year.  LRPPG Partner organizations will be on site to answer questions about upcoming events, the property’s master plan progress, and the short and long-term volunteer programs on site.

Whether you’re looking to connect with your community, learn about local conservation efforts, or simply enjoy a fun day outdoors, the LRPPG Fall Festival has something for everyone.

All ages are welcome and everything at the festival is completely free. Don’t miss the chance to celebrate nature, culture, and community at this special event!
