SAN BERNARDINO>> San Bernardino County Children’s Network is seeking to recognize the unsung heroes in the lives of children. The department is accepting nominations of individuals or organizations for the Children’s Network 2017 Shine-a-Light on Child Abuse Prevention Awards Breakfast. The awards program is now in their 19th year and it is are presented by Children’s Network to those who have provided exceptional service to at-risk children and youth. The Children’s Network seeks nominees in eight categories that include business, human services, education, foster parent, legal/law enforcement, health/medical, community partner and volunteer. Nominees should be those who have made a commitment to the safety and well-being of at-risk children and youth. All nominations will be reviewed and selections will be made by a committee of volunteers not affiliated with any of the nomination categories. Award recipients will be recognized at the Children’s Network 19th Annual Shine-a-Light on Child Abuse Prevention Awards Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 6, at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino. “They are unsung heroes who are doing work to which much of the general public says ‘I could never do that job,’” said Children’s Network Officer, Kathy Turnbull. “The Children’s Network Annual Shine-a-Light on Child Abuse Awards Breakfast is a way to honor and thank them for their work with children and families.” The deadline for this year’s nominations is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3. For more information, please contact the Children’s Network at (909) 383-9677. Nomination forms are available on the Children’s Network website http://hs.sbcounty.gov/CN. The Children's Network of San Bernardino County works to improve the quality of life for "children at risk" who because of behavior, abuse, neglect, medical needs, educational assessment, and/or detrimental daily living situations are eligible for services from one or more of the member agencies of the Children's Policy Council.
